Rhett Walker Band Tattoos and Cigarettes Lyrics
Posted by TR Pennington on October 1, 2013 Uncategorized | Tags: Jackson Sun News, Recording | 5 commentsWhen I was younger my Daddy said to me, it’s okay to get caught up in the mystery
Sometimes you’ll sit and wonder, not understand what ya see
Don’t confuse the lines of truth and make-believe
I’m pretty sure that Jesus ain’t worried ‘bout tattoos and cigarettes
Or if you wear a golden cross around your neck
What about loving your neighbor and giving to the poor?
I just want a love like that and nothing more
Well maybe I’m crazy, maybe I’m free
I just know I ain’t the man that I used to be
But on this side of Heaven, you won’t always get it right
Sometimes you’ll rise above, sometimes you gotta fight
You’ll never know the stories that lie beneath the skin
But judgin’ now won’t change the broken places they’ve been
Cause I know that Jesus ain’t worried ‘bout tattoos and cigarettes
Or if you wear a golden cross around your neck
What about loving your neighbor and giving to the poor?
I just want a love like that and nothing more
Maybe I’m crazy, maybe I’m free
I just know I ain’t the man that I used to be

Ok guys I’ve been searching to download “tatoos and cigarettes” from iTunes but guess what, it isn’t there! So step it up because frankly between that, “When mercy found me” and “brother don’t ya know” It’s the best. And ya know what else, that song (tats and cigs) could be played on major country music stations and accepted by millions of sinners because its not condemning or fake. It’s real, to real people! It could be categorized as modern country instead of “Stricly Christian”. I know it’s not about money but lets be real, every band r ministry needs money! Can you imagine the royalties?! So lets get with it and get tats and cigs recorded!
Thank you for commenting. Tattoos and Cigarettes IS recorded and will be on the Rhett Walker Band’s upcoming album (see earlier post) that will be released in early June. We are with you! Very much hoping this song will be released for radio play on all kinds of stations. In my opinion just releasing on CCM stations is preaching to the choir. Though at times the “choir” does need to hear the message in the song too. 😉 (even maybe what prompted this song to be written in the first place?)
I absolutely love this!!
Jesus is worried about tatoos and cigarettes the Bible does say sin is sin but not to judge you can’t just do whatever and expect Jesus to be ok with it. I think it is a bad song!!!
Love this song! Jesus looks at the heart. And think about who He hung out with–sinners, tax collectors, cheaters, liars, prostitutes. We’re all broken and need His love and grace.
